Cooperations with Universities and Research Institutes

One crucial pillar of the cooperation with the Universities of Brandenburg and Berlin are joint appointments together with the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, the University of Potsdam, the Free University of Berlin, the Technical University of Berlin and the Humboldt University of Berlin. These university cooperation partners add to the multi-disciplinary research perspective of the IRS and provide the institutional framework for doctorates and habilitations of junior scientists.

Currently there are joint appointments with the

Brandenburgischen Technischen Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg  (Prof. Dr. Oliver Ibert)

Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) (Prof. Dr. Kerstin Brückweh)

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Prof. Dr. Suntje Schmidt).

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Gabriela Christmann (Technische Universität Berlin ) and
Prof. Dr. Christoph Bernhardt (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin ) hold extraordinary professorships.

In addition, the right to award doctorates was granted by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar to the junior research group leader Dr. Monika Motylinska.

IRS researchers regularly offer seminars and lectures at universities in Berlin and Brandenburg as well as in other federal states.

Participation in Research Networks

The IRS is involved in the joint application and implementation of coordinated programs in collaborative research.

The IRS is currently involved in the DFG's sociology-led Collaborative Research Center Re-Figuration of Spaces.  Prof. Dr. Gabriela Christmann is a member of the executive board and project leader of the sub-project "B01: Peripheralized Rural Areas".
