The third part of the Joint Spatial Planning Concept for Energy and Climate was focused at the development of cultural landscapes in face of climate change and energy transition. In two pilot regions – Barnim as cultural landscpape in climate change and energy landscape Prignitz – dialog processes have been organized and evaluated on behalf of the Joint Spatial Planning Department Berlin/Brandenburg. In each region two regional workshops with stakeholder of municipalities, districts, planning authorities, corporation and scientific organisations took place. Based on analytical inputs and strategic proposals of the expertise regional problems and the scope for cooperative action as well as possibilities for landscape development have been discussed. The results of the dialog processes have been presented at a final workshop “cultural landscapes as action arenas – new challenges in face of energy transition and climate change” in Potsdam and discussed with actors from other energy and climate regions including their experiences. The results of the dialog processes have been used to develop recommendations for planning and politics regarding challenges and opportunities for cooperative action arenas, the identification of cultural landscapes and the development of landscape guidelines and visions as well as the establishment of dialog processes. The project has been carried out in cooperation with the bureau for landscape communication, Bad Freienwalde.
