Research Associate

Erik Ooms is research associate in the research department “Dynamics of Economic Spaces” of the IRS. In February 2020 he started his research within the project “Open Region” funded by the BMBF “Innohub13” project. He holds a master's degree in Urban Planning from the Radboud University in Nijmegen, a  master's degree in European Spatial Planning from the Blekinge Institute of Technology in Karlskrona, and a master's degree in European studies from the Centre International de Formation Européenne.

Research Associate

Aya Isabel Kleine arbeitet seit Januar 2020 als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin in der Abteilung „Regenerierung von Städten“, wo sie im BMBF-Projekt „Städtische Ko-Produktion von Teilhabe und Gemeinwohl: Aushandlungsprozesse zwischen zivilgesellschaftlichen Akteuren und städtischen Verwaltungen“ den Prozess um das Dragonerareal in Berlin-Kreuzberg untersucht und begleitet. Sie studierte Politikwissenschaften und Soziologie in Hamburg, Kopenhagen (B.A.) und Berlin (M.A.).

Project Management

Since January 2020, Rita Gudermann is head of the institute-funded project to improve the digital infrastructure of the IRS's scientific collections. She has many years of professional experience as a research assistant at the Institutes of Economic History of the Free University of Berlin and the Humboldt University of Berlin, as well as an IT consultant for DAM and ERP systems and in the development of a historical image database.

Małgorzata Popiołek-Roßkamp joined IRS in January 2020. She works in the lead project “Socio-Spatial Disparities and Equalisation Policies in Cities and Towns of the GDR and FRG” in the Department for Historical Research. She studied art history and heritage conservation and defended her PhD thesis 2017 entitled “Warsaw. A Reconstruction that Began Before the War”. Until February 2020 she will work part-time at the Centre for Historical Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Berlin.
