Dr Ronan Bolton is an interdisciplinary researcher working as Lecturer in Science, Technology and Innovation Studies (STIS) at the School of Social and Political Science, University of Edinburgh. His work examines the policy, market and regulatory challenges of transforming high carbon energy systems and enabling the deployment and diffusion of low carbon technologies and practices. Drawing from science and technology studies, innovation studies, and governance perspectives, he explores the changing relationships between energy companies, regulatory and governmental bodies, and users in the governance of European energy systems. His ongoing work in these areas is funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Research Council, the Scottish Government and the Norwegian Research Council.
