Gala Nettelbladt

Gala Nettelbladt joined the IRS in January 2018 as a research associate in the department of “Regeneration of Cities and Towns”, where she works in the DFG-funded project “Zuwanderungstrategien – Planungspolitiken der Regenerierung von Städten”.

She has a dual background in Social Sciences and Urban Planning, with a BA in European Studies from King’s College London and an MRes in Interdisciplinary Urban Design from the Bartlett School of Planning, University College London. Her studies were funded by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. Using infrastructure as a method for critical urban studies, her Master’s dissertation investigated the politics of city-making processes at play in the reception of refugees in Mannheim, Germany. Prior to joining the IRS, she worked as a research assistant at the Development Planning Unit, University College London and as a project assistant at Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
